Children at the Children Safe Space watching an educative movie on bullying

Children at the Children Safe Space (CFS) watched an educative movie on bullying and its consequences. After the movie, we had a discussion about what they had seen, and the children shared what they had learned:

  1. They understood how bullying could affect others, and as children, they need to foster compassion. They have to learn to put themselves in someone else’s shoes.
  2. They should encourage each other to stand up against bullying, either by reporting it or supporting those who are victims.
  3. They should show everyone acts of kindness, which could help create a positive environment and reduce bullying, because small gestures would make big differences.
  4. They understood that bullying could have serious emotional and mental effects on both the victim and the bully.
  5. They said they ought to build healthy friendships and work together to help combat bullying—strong support systems are very important and crucial nowadays.
  6. They learned how resolving conflicts peacefully could prevent situations from escalating into bullying.
  7. They have also learned that developing self-esteem could empower children to resist bullying and seek help when needed.
  8. They learned that it is important for children to know that it is okay to ask for help from trusted adults when they encounter bullying.
  9. They have seen that embracing differences and celebrating diversity can help reduce bullying by fostering acceptance.
  10. They understood that everyone plays a role in creating a safe environment, which can encourage responsibility in their actions.
